Pingsi Commercial District Association

Pingsi was once a booming community due to the mining industry, and it is now being rediscovered by travelers because of its small mountain town atmosphere and its famous sky lanterns. It still has its natural and simple leisurely rhythms of mountain life.

To protect the environment a group of community leaders with a passion for service led community development work, establishing a voluntary organization and making a proposal to the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Mid-Range Plan to Invigorate Local Business Environments. They implemented the development work for the Pingsi Commercial Area.

The Taipei County Pingsi Township Commercial District Club was established in September, 2005, in order to effectively integrate local organizations and business proprietors and to cooperate with the consultation team so that Pingsi’s special style could be developed into a modern garden paradise and a leisure village. This club promoted commercial area consultation, held local festivals, received other commercial area representatives for observation visits, and held officer meetings and training. With the maturity of the organization in 2008, it was formed into the Taipei County Pingsi Commercial District Association, with the expectation of being able to upgrade Pingsi as a brand name under the concepts of the perpetual preservation of cultural resources and the continuance of the simple lifestyle of Pingsi residents.
