The Palace Tea House is the only fully preserved Japanese-style housing built with black roof tiles in Pingxi left from the Japanese colonization era. It was the living quarter for the highest positioned employee of Taiyang Mining Corporation. The room reserved the original cypress wooden flooring, Japanese style sliding doors, concealed storage spaces, totally preserving the original layout, which is quite amazing. The house is designed with French windows, so it's with excellent natural lighting and one can view the elegant Japanese garden as the front porch steps lead directly to a stone arranged fish pond, with the green courtyard and planting of maple trees and cherry blossoms. Needless to say the interior is also elegantly furnished. With the strong Japanese flavor, this spot became where the TV dramas and MV (music video) like to shoot their scenery from. |
